What information do we collect?
Our website collects non-personal information from our users through cookies and website analytics software (Google Analytics). Where additional and relevant permissions have been given, data may also be used by Parent Zone for our own use, including sending newsletters and marketing messages.
We will require email addresses of contributors aged under 18 in order to communicate with them about their copy. Data will only be collected from young authors for the provision of the service. Young authors can elect to write under a pseudonym and can request the removal of their data at any time in line with the 'right to be forgotten'. We define young authors for the purposes of data management as authors under the age of 25. Their data is stored and managed separately to other Parent Zone data.
We collect information from contributions for the purposes of Factfindr only. Where additional and relevant permissions have been given, data may also be used by Parent Zone for our own use, including sending newsletters and marketing messages.
You have the right to request access to your data, object to its processing, restrict the processing or request it to be deleted. We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up-to-date. You may ask us to correct or remove information you think is inaccurate.
You have a right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you are concerned about the way we are handling any of your information.

The amount of personal data we store varies depending on whether you have signed up for a newsletter, one of Parent Zone’s projects, or are one of our member schools or organisations. You have the right to contact us to request access to the personal data we have stored.

- range of age

- information you may have entered in a research survey e.g. the number of children you have
How do we use your personal information?
Personal information is never shared with third parties unless it is for a specific task related to the project (e.g. postal addresses for the delivery of magazines). Where information is shared with a third party we secure an NDA to make sure the data is not shared with any third parties. If you register with our website your details will be used to give you access to areas of the website that are not open to all visitors. This data is not shared outside Parent Zone. It may be used by Parent Zone for marketing purposes and newsletters providing we have obtained your consent or we have a genuine and legitimate reason to do so. You can opt out of these communications if you wish.
Webpage privacy statement
When you visit our website, you leave electronic traces that show your path; information such as IP-address. We use this kind of information to better understand and interpret the traffic patterns and subsequently to improve the standards of our site – for the benefit of our visitors.
